Don Roland

Direct Marketing Expert

Don spent his entire career in advertising, marketing and printing. He served as Chairman and CEO of Vertis, Inc. and as Vice Chairman of Hess Printing Solutions, Inc.

Don started his career working in newspaper production. In 1982 he was named Vice President of Operations at the Los Angeles Times’  Times Mirror Press division.  During his 24-year career at TC Advertising/Vertis, Inc. the company grew from $350 million in revenue into the $1.8 billion Vertis, Inc., a full-service advertising solutions provider, with Don as Chairman and CEO. In 2005 Fortune Magazine named Vertis as the one of America’s “Most Admired Companies.”

Don earned his undergraduate degree from California State University (LA). He received his master’s degree from UC Riverside, with post-graduate work at UCLA and Claremont Graduate School. In 2003 Don was inducted into the Printing Industry Hall of Fame. In 2008 he was named Distinguished Graduate of the School of Business and Economics at California State University (LA).  Don lives in Annapolis, MD and has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, the Hammond-Harwood House, and as Chairman of the Board for the Anne Arundel County (MD) Library System.
